Black history is Canadian history and should be taught in the province’s schools.
That from Laurabel Mba. She recently created a change.org petition to have black history taught in the K-12 system.
Recently, Dean Ingram, President of the NLTA, came out in support of such a change.
Mba says education is an important tool in fighting racism.
She says there have been a multitude of black Canadians who have had an impact on society, and if we don’t share that information, it feeds prejudice.
