A St. John’s man accused of accessing and distributing child pornography has been acquitted of the charges.
Thomas Patrick O’Grady’s Trial concluded yesterday in St. John’s Provincial Court.
In 2016, a cyber tip report by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, led police to a home in Kilbride. This is where Thomas O’Grady was living.
When police searched the home they found hundreds of images of child pornography on electronics inside the house.
At trial, a retired RCMP officer testifying as an expert witness for the defense, shredded the police investigation in this case, saying they failed to gather enough evidence.
Following cross examination of the witness, the Crown told the judge they could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. The judge agreed and O’Grady was acquitted.
