It’s the end of an era in Churchill Square and the beginning of a new one.
The old Dominion grocery story, which had been vacant for years and was the focus of negative public attention as a commercial dead zone, is finally coming down.
Crews began the demolition process today.
St. John’s Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary says it’s been a long time coming.
She says it will breathe new life into the area.
The proposed development that will be built in its place will include 69 apartment units.
