Members from the official opposition are calling for a comprehensive review of the long-term care system in the province.

MHAs for Bonavista and Conception Bay East-Bell Island, Craig Pardy and David Brazil say residents, families, and staff in their districts are “pleading for change.”

During the last general election, one of the critical health policy proposals was a review of the same subject manner.

Pardy says the pandemic has placed an “incredible amount of stress” on the long-term care system and the province is fortunate it hasn’t been impacted like other provinces in the country.

Brazil adds that systemic issues in long-term care have been ongoing for years and the review cannot wait for another general election.
