RCMP are investigating a homicide in the Labrador community of Hopedale.

Police say the 44-year-old victim was violently assaulted in the community May 11. He succumbed to his injuries last week.

No charges have yet been laid.

Residents of Hopedale can expect an increased police presence in the community as the investigation continues.
