The Chief Medical Officer of Health is relaxing some of the travel restrictions related to those who own property in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Janice Fizgerald says as of Monday, August 31, Canadians living outside the province, but who own cabins and summer properties in Newfoundland and Labrador will be allowed in under strict conditions.
They will have to apply for a travel exemption, self-isolate for 14 days on arrival and will have to have proof of ownership of the property in question.
Dr. Fitzgerald says when the travel restrictions were put in place the epidemiology in the rest of Canada was very different from what it is now, and the province has learned a lot about effective mitigation to keep vulnerable populations safe.
There are currently no active cases of COIVID-19 in the province.
Govt relaxing travel restrictions. People who own cabins or second homes can apply for exemption. Govt says now safe to allow that travel.
