The Portugal Cove-St. Phillips Lions Club has made a special donation to St. Pat’s Mercy Home in memory of one of their members.
The club has donated a baby doll for the facility’s doll therapy program.
They say the dolls can help dementia patients by bringing them comfort, reducing anxiety, and giving them a sense of purpose by caring for it.
The idea for the group to get involved in the program was first broached by Sherry Parsons, who passed away in January before she could take on the project herself.
The Lion’s Club says they are honoured to carry on Parsons’ “legacy of kindness” by making the donation.
