Health officials have not yet seen enough to warrant a tightening of restrictions in the Grand Bank area as more COVID-19 cases become known.
Yesterday, a fourth COVID case connected to a cluster in that area was announced. That’s in addition to three cases announced on Wednesday, one of which was discovered in a seniors complex.
Part of the province’s coronavirus response plan allows for a tightening of restrictions or full-on shutdowns in specific regions where outbreaks occur.
While Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald cautions that it is still early in the investigation, they haven’t seen anything too concerning.
Fitzgerald says cases where they cannot find the source of infection are what worry public health officials most, as those can be an indication of wider community spread that they just don’t know about yet.
