In keeping with the rule that infection prevention is everyone’s responsibility, the Department of Health and Community Services reminds people of the rules for taxi goers and operators in order to keep everyone safe from COVID-19.
Restrictions on the number of passengers allowed in a taxi remains in place during alert level two – three passengers in a van and two in a sedan. Front-seat passengers are not allowed at this time.
Drivers may allow members of the same bubble to travel together.
Operators should continue to encourage physical distancing where possible and use PPE when it’s not possible to be socially distant.
As well, drivers should avoid handling money if possible and clean their hands if they do.
Operators should also establish a routine cleaning schedule that includes washing their vehicle at least twice a day, when it is visibly dirty, after transporting passengers to medical appointments and after transporting anyone with any respiratory symptoms like coughing or sneezing.
