There is a new case of COVID-19 in the province, this one in central Newfoundland.
The one new confirmed case is a man between the ages of 20 and 29. It is travel-related as he had returned to the province from Ontario. While en route to the province, he was considered neither symptomatic nor infectious.
Contact tracing is underway and everyone considered a close contact will be advised to quarantine. Public Health says the risk to the public is low as he did self-isolate upon his return to Newfoundland.
Today’s new case brings the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador to 263.
