It’s been a very disappointing year for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with property in one of the world’s COVID-19 hot spots.
Gary Reardon is a Realtor with Royal LePage Atlantic Homestead who spends much of his winters in Florida.
Reardon left Florida in early March and he doubts he’ll get back there this fall given the unfolding situation.
He says some friends have decided to sell their properties in Florida, while others have leased out their homes for the long-term.
Despite all that, he says houses in Florida are still selling in what is primarily an American market.
He suspects about 80 per cent of the market is American with the British, Canadians, Germans making up the tourist part of the Florida real estate market.
Prices remain relatively steady according to Reardon, even while the market is not as active.
