The FFAW says the federal government has finally released the details of support programs for harvesters affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Fish Harvester Benefit will cover income losses beyond a 25 per cent threshold for the 2020 tax year compared to the previous two years. The maximum benefit is $10,164.
A non-repayable grant is also being offered to self-employed fish harvesters with a valid commercial fishing licence in 2020 and business costs of up to $40,000.
The grant offers up to $10,000 in non-repayable support depending on the level of a harvester’s historic revenue.
