It was like a scene out of the Arthur Scammell classic Squid Jiggin’ Ground in Carbonear this week.
The local wharf was abuzz with activity this week as boats prepared for the squid run.
The short-finned squid ranges from Florida to the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
It’s caught primarily for bait but is a local delicacy, commonly consumed as stuffed squid, or deep-fried squid rings.
