Today is the deadline for the provincial Residential Construction Rebate Program.

The subsidy has proven very popular, and government has had to bring in extra resources to process applications.

The bulk of applications surround home renovation and home improvement projects, but those who need to replace their oil tanks are also eligible.

Chris Forward is General Manager of Harvey’s Oil and president of the Oil Heat association of Newfoundland and Labrador.

He says the response has been overwhelming.

He says they’re even getting calls from people whose tanks don’t expire for another year to take advantage of the 25 per cent subsidy. They’re booked well into the fall.
