Tourism operators are despairing over their future in light of the travel ban brought about due to the pandemic.
The Supreme Court of NL is currently hearing a challenge to the province’s travel ban, that blocks those from outside the Atlantic bubble from entering except in certain circumstances.
The province is promoting a staycation summer, but some operators say the local population simply can’t sustain a $1.2-billion dollar industry.
Steve Denty of Hospitality NL admits it’s frustrating.
He says if people exercise the basics of social distancing, the use of face masks, and frequent hand-washing, then he can’t see why the province can’t open beyond the bubble.
