RCMP say help is available for those who witnessed a horrific fatal crash in Port au Port West August 29.
A tow truck drove through a home on Front Street, claiming the lives of two people, and sending three others to hospital with serious injuries.
RCMP say it is normal for people who have experienced a traumatic event to require support.
RCMP Health Services provide support to the officers who attended the scene, but they’re asking people affected by the crash to contact Western Health’s Bay St. George Trauma Team.
The group can provide information about grief and the usual response to trauma, critical stress debriefing, short-term counseling, and referral to other support services.
Anyone who wants help can contact Mental Health & Addiction Services to access the team in Stephenville at 709-643-8740. Additional help is available 24/7 from the toll-free MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS LINE 888-737-4668 or at Bridge the GAPP.
