The provincial NDP says it is willing to support another extension of money to fund government until a budget is passed, but with a few conditions attached.
NDP Leader Alison Coffin had said she she would not vote for another interim supply, citing a lack of detail on what the nearly $5-billion from the earlier extension has been spent on to date.
However, she now says the NDP would consider further supply, depending on what the extension would look like. For example, she says a request for one more month of interim supply until a budget is passed is reasonable, but she would want a firm date for the budget, and to know exactly how much the government is seeking and what it will be used for.
Coffin says the party also wants a firm date for the next general election.
The governing Liberals announced that the House of Assembly will open next Monday in an effort to secure more money to fund all aspects of government, including payroll.
