There won’t be a Christmas parade in St. John’s this year, but that doesn’t mean that Santa won’t pay a visit to the capital city to ring in the Christmas season.
Santa Claus has received special clearance to meet with kids and families at Mile One at the end of the month.
Downtown St. John’s was contemplating a drive-by event in lieu of the annual Santa Claus parade, but Gaylynne Gulliver says they soon realised that wasn’t going to work out.

They’re moving away from the concept of a parade even though the drive-by plans they had were approved by public health officials.
Gulliver says they’ve moved to a one-way stroll-by event. Santa and his Friends will be available at Mile One Centre on Saturday and Sunday, Nov 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Santa will be on his float, and children and families will be able to pass by and say hello. Letters to Santa can be dropped off in a mailbox on the site, and most importantly, donations will be accepted for the Community Food Sharing Association.
