A tragedy unfolding off Nova Scotia is hitting home for residents of the Burin Peninsula.

The body of a Fortune man, one of the crewmen on board the scallop dragger the Chief William Salis was recovered yesterday after the vessel went missing off the southwestern coast of Nova Scotia.

The search continues for the five other crewmen.

Family and friends on the Burin Peninsula are sharing news of the tragic loss.

Unfortunately, this evening, one individual was found deceased. The next of kin have been notified.
