The FFAW was among a number of labour groups that met this week with the province’s finance minister to discuss ways to support rural Newfoundland and Labrador.
Union President Keith Sullivan told Siobhan Coady that greater support is needed for the fishery and fishing communities.
That means more services to attract young people to come back to and stay in rural communities. That also means creating an environment where people want to live and work and that requires services.
Sullivan says the last seven years have been the most valuable in the history of the province’s fishery.
