The acting chair of Nalcor’s Oil and Gas Company says Equinor’s decision to move its Canadian offices from Calgary to St. John’s reinforces that there are real growth opportunities in our offshore.
In a Financial Post article, the Norwegian company says it will no longer be pursuing work in the oilsands, instead focusing on the Atlantic offshore.
Jim Keating is pleased with the move. He says Equinor is considered a leader in the industry, noting their actions could encourage other companies to follow suit.
He believes this province offers a lot of what Equinor is looking for.
Keating says we have lots of opportunities and licenses for billion-dollar fields that big oil companies look for.
