The metro region has received its first significant dumping of snow this season.
Yesterday snow was falling for the majority of the day, with the first snowfall occurring in the morning, and the other in the evening.
According to Veronica Sullivan, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, most areas on the Eastern Avalon got between 18 and 25 centimetres, which she calls “a pretty good dumping.”
As that system continues to move out, winds will be a big factor over the region today.
Wind gusts between 80 and 90 km/h are expected, gradually dying down throughout the day.
