A local tech company is creating waves in the medical community with the rollout of an add-on that could make a difference for those who use inhalers.
BreatheSuite was founded in 2018.
They have created an add-on for inhalers that can help train and track proper technique and usage.
Founder and CEO Brett Vokey explains the device uses what’s called “passive monitoring” and is similar to a Fitbit.
He says the device fits on top of meter-dose inhalers. It then tracks information about how and when you use the device, which is then sent to an app and can be accessed by medical professionals.
Vokey believes the device will have benefits for both doctors and patients.
He hopes that by being able to track such activity doctors will better be able to help change people’s behaviour and improve outcomes.
The devices are already in circulation, which will be bolstered by $1.2-million in financing that was recently announced.
