A St. John’s business owner was shocked by what he witnessed this morning while opening up for the day.
Jamil Hossain owns NJ’s Kitchen in Churchill Square. He was just getting ready to open when he heard a sound, which he assumed was snow or ice falling from the eave.
When he went out to investigate, he was shocked at what he saw.
He noticed a “beautiful bird” lying on the pavement bleeding. He assumed the bird might have struck the window, but about five feet away, he noticed another bird. When he sized up the scene, he counted a total of six dead birds, scattered over a wide area on the pavement.
Hossain can’t say what may have happened, as there are no power lines in the immediate area. He’s hoping a bird expert might be able to shed some light on the incident and identify the birds.
