The St. John’s Board of Trade is calling on Public Health to move the entire province into Alert Level 2 without delay.
CEO AnnMarie Boudreau says business owners throughout the community understand the need for restrictions when case numbers and risks are high, but when the numbers and data support it, the province needs to be “nimble and adjust” reopening plans so that businesses can make money, pay wages and serve their customers.
The local business community has experienced what the Board of Trade calls significant financial loss due to the pandemic and while they are not going to be able to make up for lost time, the Board says it is helpful to allow them to operate with less-restrictive measures when COVID case numbers allow.
