Well over 70 speeding drivers were nabbed along the Trans-Canada earlier today as the result of a joint initiative from the RNC and RCMP.
The enforcement blitz was conducted heading eastbound near Butter Pot Park.
At times, it was like a revolving door of police cruisers coming off the highway after pulling someone over, then immediately heading back out to catch the latest speeder.
Corporal Jolene Garland of the RCMP says most speeders were caught doing around 135 to 140 km/h.
Two drivers were stopped after exceeding 160 km/h. Both of those vehicles were seized and impounded.

Garland states that such enforcement initiatives will be continuing.
She says the public needs to slow down, buckle up, not drink and drive, and make sure they are free of distractions while driving.
