The President and CEO of Nalcor says she’s confident that issues experienced with line failures and the software on the Labrador Island Link, or LIL are close to being resolved.
Jennifer Williams provided an update on the software issues experienced by GE during a news conference yesterday.
Williams says GE is progressing with final bipole software testing, including the detection and resolution of bugs—a process that she admits is taking a little longer than hoped.
She says it’s difficult to predict exactly when trial operations will begin, but they’re working with a date of September 30, 2021.
Root cause investigations into electrode line and transmission line failures that occurred last year are now complete, and Williams says they’ve done work to ensure that Newfoundlanders have reliable service going forward.
That includes investments in human resources and assets at the Holyrood Generating Plant.
