Newfoundland and Labrador’s Katarina Roxon just missed the podium in her first event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Roxon finished fourth in the 100m breaststroke final this morning after a tight race for bronze with a time of 1:25.73.
Roxon advanced to the breaststroke final late last night after finishing second in her heat with a time of 1:26.62, however that time was only enough for fifth place overall.

Swimming NL tweeted to say it is so proud of her.
She took home gold in the same category at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Roxon, of Kippens will participate in three more events at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Liam Hickey, who competed in both the 2016 Paralympic Summer Games in Rio, and the 2018 games in Pyeongchang. says it’s exciting watching Roxon compete.
He says everything Roxon has had to go through over the past four years is extremely exciting, and he’s sure she’ll make the province and the country proud.
Hickey stresses that it’s important for young para-athletes to see athletes like themselves on the world’s biggest stage.
He says it wasn’t until he saw the Paralympics that he became motive to strive for that as a kid. He says exposure is important for inspiring young athletes.
