The province’s Education Minister doesn’t expect that graduating students moving on to post-secondary will be disadvantaged by a decision to cancel final exams again this year.
COVID is continuing to create uncertainty in the school system and Minister Tom Osborne says the decision was made to cancel final exams again this year because of that uncertainty.
He says Level 3 students in their final high school year have already been through two school years with dramatic changes. The Department felt it was prudent to inform teachers and students early, to determine the best way forward.
Osborne doesn’t expect students to be unduly disadvantaged by not writing final exams this year.
He says other every jurisdiction in the country is dealing with the same challenges, and overall the amount of instruction time in this province that’s been disrupted due to COVID has been relatively small compared to other areas.
