Over a thousand people in the Twillingate area have been tested since Public Health began establishing pop-up clinics in response to a COVID outbreak.
The MHA for the area, Derek Bennett, says there’s another clinic being held today until 6 p.m.
New World Island Academy in Summerford is closed.
It’s the second such outbreak in the region. Bennett, who has spoken with area mayors, says they’re very concerned.
Bennett says nobody wants to see COVID come into their community but the Twillingate-New World Island area always support each other and they will get through it.
The latest COVID numbers are expected to come down this afternoon around 2 p.m.
1/2 Central Health would like to advise that COVID-19 testing clinics will continue to be offered in Twillingate on Monday, Sept 27, 2021. Testing will be available to those who are close contacts of confirmed case(s) and symptomatic individuals in the community. @CBCNL @VOCMNEWS
