A motivational speaker who suffered a cardiac event following a presentation in this province is stressing the importance of listening to warning signs from your body.
Chris Koch was born without arms and legs, using a skateboard to get around.
He had just finished a speaking engagement with junior high students in Springdale last week when he began to feel ill.
He was taken to the clinic in Springdale, and then to the hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor, where it was determined that he had suffered a cardiac event.
Currently, he is waiting to transfer to St. John’s where more tests will be administered.
Koch, who is in great spirits, says the pain was not what someone might expect.
He says it wasn’t like in the movies where someone gets a shooting pain, instead, he says he was just in a lot of discomfort.
Koch says he thought the discomfort might have been because he was tired, so he contemplated going and lying down.
He stresses always listening to the signs your body is giving you.
