Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has named his new Cabinet with two faces from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Long Range Mountains MP Gudie Hutchings becomes the minister of rural economic development while Seamus O’Regan switches from natural resources to labour.
It will be the first time in more than forty years that Newfoundland and Labrador will have two MPs in the federal cabinet. The last time that happened was 1979 when Jim McGrath (fisheries) and John Crosbie (finance) served in the short-lived Joe Clarke PC Government. The duo earned the moniker fish ‘n chips.
Joyce Murray, an MP from the Vancouver area, is fisheries minister.
