Some towns on the Burin Peninsula are going to opt out of one of the most popular rituals of the year.
Marystown and Burin are asking the ghouls and goblins to stay home instead of going door to door looking for treats.
Nearly 60 cases of COVID-19 are now linked to the cluster in the Marystown region as the area now lives life under Alert Level 3.
Two schools in the area are closed to in-school instruction.
Marystown Mayor Brian Keating says they have been kept in the loop by Eastern Health with regular communication all the way through.
As for Hallowe’en, Keating says Marystown is going to offer kids an alternative. He says they will be postponing, but not cancelling, Hallowe’en and replacing it with a special event.
