St. John’s City councillor Jamie Korab will not be resuming his role as the Chair of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment.
Mayor Danny Breen will be the interim chair before newly-elected councillor Ron Ellsworth takes the mantle in the coming weeks.
Korab’s tenure as chair of SJSE was marked by controversy over Mile One and securing a new ABA basketball team, the Newfoundland Rogues.
Korab also had a publicized back and forth with Deacon Sports and Entertainment CEO Dean MacDonald over the departure of the St. John’s Edge and the status of Mile One.
Mayor Breen announced the council leads at yesterday’s weekly meeting, citing that Korab’s decision was due to commitments to his ward and business.
