St. John’s native Alex Newhook is heading back to the National Hockey League.
The Colorado Avalanche recalled Newhook yesterday from the AHL’s Colorado Eagles.
Newhook was sent down to the AHL after just one game up with the big club this season.
Last season, the first-round draft pick played six regular season games and eight playoff games with the Avalanche scoring one goal and adding four assists.
In eight AHL games this season, Newhook has 5 goals and 4 assists for a total of nine points.
The Avalanche face the Vancouver Canucks Thursday night.
