Once again the cyber attack on the province’s health care system was the focus of debate in the House of Assembly today.
Opposition Leader David Brazil questioned the Premier and Justice Minister John Hogan looking for answers on behalf of the thousands of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians affected.
“Every other jurisdiction in the world who has experienced a cyber attack…has provided greater public disclosure than this government,” Brazil told the House. He says Ireland identified their situation as a ransomware attack “on day one.” Minister Hogan says they’ve been disclosing information as they get the most accurate information. “What this government is not going to do,” says Hogan “is guess and speculate as to what’s going on.” He says when the information is confirmed, that’s when government will provide information to the public.
