The owner of Deacon Sports and Entertainment says they are looking to build their new complex in the Northeast Avalon.
President and CEO of DSE, Dean MacDonald notified the City of St. John’s in August that they intended to build their own arena, however that process has been delayed as Deacon deals with their suspension from the Mary Brown’s Centre due to allegations of workplace harassment.
MacDonald said today at the Mount Pearl-Paradise Chamber of Commerce luncheon, that their experience partnering with Paradise, Mount Pearl, and CBS has been “first class”.
He says the majority of their fanbase already live in the Metro region from CBS down to Mount Pearl, and building their own stadium is more economically sound than renovating an older facility.
MacDonald says ultimately they want to be able to control the fan experience, as they do with the Trois-Rivières arena.
He says the ability to control the operations of the building is very important to them, as they can ensure fans are getting the best experience possible.
