Despite the barbs, and back and forth on the floor of the House of Assembly, MHAs were in a convivial mood as the Fall sitting of the House wrapped up yesterday afternoon.
Premier Andrew Furey acknowledged what a difficult time it’s been.
Furey thanked his colleagues on the opposite side of the House for bringing forth “great debate” on the legislation presented and the issues residents all face. “Unfortunately we continue to face mountains after mountains,” Furey says, but he’s encouraged, and humbled, by the quality of the debate and the motivation that drives members of the Legislature.
Opposition Leader David Brazil says it’s been an honour to be part of the legislative process.
The NDP’s Jim Dinn summed up how a lot of people are feeling about the last few weeks, “…it’s been one wild ride.”
