A cockatiel has been reunited with his owner, none the worse for wear after spending a rough night outdoors in the elements.
The little bird flew out the back door of Kelly Davis’ home Monday evening, just before a weather system moved in which brought heavy rain and strong winds to the St. John’s region.
Miraculously, the bird, known as “Picasso,” flew into an open window at Gonzaga High School yesterday morning.
Davis’ daughter, Louisa, was distraught after the bird escaped, but says she is so happy and relieved that the ordeal is over.
She calls it a “miracle” that the bird flew all that way, and says Picasso is really smart for finding his way into the school.
Davis will be donating the $100 reward offered to find the bird to the school as thanks for keeping Picasso safe.
