The Daffodils are blooming today after a 24-hour One Night Stand Radiothon on VOCM.
The pledges started rolling in at 8:00 yesterday morning adding up to a resounding $334,000-plus to help Daffodil Place in St. John’s subsidize patients and their supports with accommodation, meals and transportation as they receive cancer treatment.
Al Pelley, the director of revenue generation with the Canadian Cancer Society NL branch, says he is on top of the world. It costs about $700,000 a year to run the facility, which is located on Ropewalk Lane.
Volunteers pitched in to staff the phone lines and do other things to facilitate the radiothon.
Pelley thanks everyone who contributed in any way.
UPDATE | just got word that we are up to $334,002.31 raised.
