A Newfoundlander’s simple Tweet has convinced Leon’s Furniture to rename one of its products.
Dylan MacKay is an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba but is from Torbay.
On New Year’s Day he tweeted a picture of a Leon’s storage ottoman made to look like a hippopotamus.
“The fact that this is not called a hippopottoman is a huge failure,” read his tweet.
Hey Dylan, hip-hip-hooray. Hopefully we aren't a huge failure anymore…. Send us a DM, we have something for you. 👀https://t.co/3NWKH9RtMe

The tweet went viral and got Leon’s attention, leading to their decision to heed MacKay’s advice and rename the product.
They also responded with a tweet of their own.
“Hey Dylan, hip-hip-hooray. Hopefully, we aren’t a huge failure anymore.”
The company also provided MacKay with a free hippopottoman of his own.
