A 30-year-old in Washington State has been charged with conspiracy to murder people in a foreign country after allegedly providing support and money to the shooter.
Acting U.S. Attorney Neil Floyd says the investigation revealed that James Cody Bryant had been in regular and repeated contact with the 18-year-old shooter, providing advice and even offering to live stream the events.
Floyd outlined the horrific extent of Bryant’s involvement.
He says Bryant had the information and ability to alert law enforcement, “and even discussed that possibility with the shooter, but he chose not to.”
“Instead he encouraged and offered assistance to a murderer.” He says the shooter encountered vehicle problems after killing their mother and brother, and Bryant offered advice and assistance on how to get the car started, allowing the shooter to get to the school where five children and one teacher were killed.)
The British Columbia government has filed a lawsuit in California against OpenAI, for failing to alert authorities to disturbing conversations the shooter had on ChatGPT – despite the fact that they had been flagged by employees.
