Bonavista RCMP are on the hunt for a man following a dangerous and bizarre pursuit on Friday.
32-year-old Daniel McDonald is 6’ 2” and 218 pounds, with a skull tattoo on his left forearm, a scar near his eyes and a brown birthmark on his stomach.
The incident began around 8 o’clock Friday night near the Irving Midway on Route 230. Police tried to pull over a truck that was towing a stolen trailer with two ATVs inside.
They say McDonald was driving and fled after being spotted, speeding and swerving around a roadblock. Meanwhile, someone else crawled through the back window into the pan and unhitched the trailer, which then smashed into and broke off a telephone pole near Port Union.
The truck is a red 2014 four-door F150 with a sunroof, the word “security” on the side, and Alberta licence plate # CKZ6705. The front grill, taillights and Ford symbol are also blacked out.
RCMP say McDonald is known to have guns in the truck and warn to stay clear and call them or Crimestoppers if the suspect or truck are spotted.
He faces numerous charges in connection with the incident, including flight from police, assaulting an officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a vehicle, mischief, possession of property obtained by crime and being a common nuisance.
He’s also wanted on warrants in Alberta for alleged firearms offences.
