Delegates from the city of Braga, Portugal are in St. John’s this week for a “study visit” as part of the European Union’s International Urban and Regional Cooperation Program.
Mayor Danny Breen says the program allows cities from different countries to work with, and learn from each other, with St. John’s paired with Braga.
The two cities started working together last September by participating in several technical calls.
The program focuses on numerous areas, including sustainable urban and electric mobility, as well as tourism and culture.
As part of the program, Braga will host St. John’s delegates later this year.
The two cities will continue working together until the end of 2023, and will be developing an Urban Cooperation Action Plan.
