The City of St. John’s is reinstating some dedicated bike lanes.
City paint crews will add unidirectional bike lanes on five streets in the coming weeks including Airport Heights Drive from Parker’s Pond Road to Elderberry Place, Viscount Street from Airport Heights Drive to the shared-use path on Portugal Cove Road, Cowan Avenue from Frecker Drive to Topsail Road, Mundy Pond Road and Campbell Avenu and Cashin Avenue Extension.
The lanes will be painted with bike symbols and bike lane diamonds with parking allowed on one side of the street in most areas. Vehicles will not be allowed to stop or park in bike lanes.
The roads are outlined in the capital city’s Bike Master Plan released in 2019.
