The federal government has announced $38 million to expand the Port of Argentia.
Despite the blanket of fog covering the area, the plans for the future of the port became clearer today.

Federal Transportation Minister Omar Alghabra says the money will go towards improving cargo movement at the port by expanding the existing fleet dock terminal.
The expansion will include the construction of 460 m of berthing space to accommodate larger vessels, a roll-on roll-off ramp to facilitate the movement of containers and cargo, and a 100,000-meter squared expansion of available dockside space.

The federal government says the project is expected to quadruple trade volumes moving through the port over the next 30 years.
This is the second major announcement for the area in recent days. Last week, it was announced that the port is being established as the first transit route and laydown yard for offshore wind turbine foundations, with the first delivery scheduled for next month.
