Nearly $12 million has been announced for transportation infrastructure in the St. John’s area.
The funds are coming from the federal and provincial governments, as well as the city.
The money will be used to purchase up to 18 hybrid or electric vehicles to replace the current GoBus fleet that services the metro region.
Solar panels will be installed on 120 metrobus shelters, and a shared-use path will be constructed from Logy Bay Road to Portugal Cove Road.

St. John’s Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary calls the news “concrete actions” on climate change saying that the city is now walking the walk, and not just talking about it.
