The minister of education is making no apologies for choosing Portugal Cove-St. Philips as the site for a new high school.
Senior students in the bustling town are currently bussed to PWC in St. John’s.
The MHA who represents Paradise, Paul Dinn, is calling on government to give an update on the situation there. He says the school board had a new high school for Paradise on its priority list years ago, yet nothing has happened.
Minister Krista Lynn Howell assures that government will continue to meet the needs of students who will still be going to PWC as well as other regions where the population is growing.
She says they have been looking at all the numbers at PWC and they have a plan, as well as other regions including Paradise.
