It’s a bit early just yet, but many are eagerly looking out to sea for a glimpse at icebergs off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Diane Davis, who runs the Newfoundland and Labrador Icebergs Report Facebook page, says their over 76,000 members are keeping a close eye for iceberg sightings as we head into spring.
Davis says a few sightings reported so far have proven to be false, but not all. Far out in the Atlantic, there were a few confirmed sightings off Twillingate and the Northern Peninsula.
She says the wind may push the bergs further off-shore, so what is being reported so far, may not stick around, making it hard to predict where the best iceberg viewing spot will be.
Davis says the bergs were plentiful last year in areas from Bonavista up to St. Anthony, but that changes every year. Your best bet, she says, is areas prone to icebergs like Bonavista, Musgrave Harbour, and Twillingate.
