An investigation has been launched into a fire that destroyed an old gas bar in the community of Sandy Cove on the Great Northern Peninsula.
Flower’s Cove RCMP say the fire call came in around 11:30 Sunday night.
Firefighters battled the fire at Cole’s Coastline and North Atlantic Gas Station, but the building, and a John Deere loader parked inside were destroyed.
Police say it appears as though the fire started on the interior of the building and the fuel pumps at the gas station were not in service with no fuel in the tanks.
Estimated cost of the damage is at more than a million dollars.
